For each MBR treatment it is vital to screen effectively the waste stream before arriving to the membrane process itself.

It is well known how screenings can harm or affect the membranes; particularly how hair and rags may wrap around the tubular membranes or get stuck into the flat membranes affecting the performance of the MBR system and forcing to frequent, long and expensive maintenance operation.

For such purpose R.E.M. has developed the RS3 internally fed drum screens which, thank to its filtering capacity of as much as 1 mm round holes, is able to almost totally remove the solids which represent a threat to the MBR performance.
